When we first contacted Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital for a poster child, we weren’t sure what type of patient we would be working with. We got the call in October, made the trip over with a camera in hand and knew we were about to meet someone special. We were told that Tyania had suffered a tough weekend but that she was having a good day.

Tyania is 4 years old and suffers from Sickle Cell Anemia. She was admitted due to an extremely high fever. At the age of 4, she has already had a Picc line (peripherally inserted central catheter), Bronchoscopy and a blood transfusion.

What we expected to face was a sad, pitiful, sick child. When we opened the door and announced that we were Happy Wheels coming to bring her a toy, her eyes lit up and a smile stretched across her face. As you can see, she was a happy little girl!!

Please join us in this journey to put smiles on the young faces at Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital by supporting Happy Wheels!
